How cross-platform multiplayer mode works in Call of Duty Modern Warfare

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is released on PC and consoles on October 25 with support for cross-platform multi-user mode, which will be active starting September 19 in the beta version.

On the official Activision blog, game creators reveal some details on how multiplayer between platforms will work in restarting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. You should immediately pay attention to the fact that players will need a COD account. You can create it using PlayStation ID, Battle.net ID, Xbox Live or Steam accounts on the Call of Duty website.

From the Activision Blog:

As for maintaining equal conditions for all players, the selection of players in multiplayer will be carried out according to the type of controller connected, for example, players with gamepads will participate in matchmaking with other players who use the gamepad. It is worth noting that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will support the ability to connect keyboards and mice to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, in case you want to play with your PC friends. At the same time, PC gamers will be able to use gamepads to play with console friends.

Infinity Ward and Activision plan to allow players to join the multi-user lobby without any filters according to the control scheme. Apparently, this decision is aimed at ensuring that gamepad users can feel the pain of defeat from gamers with a keyboard and mouse.

In addition, Activision and Infinity Ward reported that most game content, including multi-player modes, maps and special missions will be released simultaneously on all platforms after the release. Nevertheless, the owners of the PS4 will still retain the “first day advantage”, and the developers will not specify what it will be.
