iOS 13.1 will slow iPhone XR, XS and XS Max with weak batteries

September 24, Apple will release the iOS 13.1 update. After receiving this update, the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max with batteries that have lost a significant part of their nominal capacity will work with underestimated performance. According to Apple, this will avoid their emergency shutdown.

Apple has selectively slowed down some smartphones with worn-out batteries since 2016. Underestimation of the processor clock speed appeared in iOS 10.2.1, but users noticed this only after a few months. IOS 11.3 introduced an option with which you can choose either maximum performance or a mode in which the processor runs more slowly and does not create an extreme load on a weakened battery.

According to Apple, the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max have an advanced hardware and software system that reduces the natural wear of the battery and extends its battery life. Thanks to it, the battery will be able to have a high capacity much longer, and there will be no need to reduce performance.

Apple notes that this system is imperfect. It is constantly on and works automatically, but sometimes it can cause problems: unusually long launch of applications, lower frame rates in games, slowdown of Internet connection speed, decrease in sound volume, low screen brightness.
